What rewound is

Rewound is a local contemporary art magazine based in Chicago, focusing on Literature, Culture, and all sort of Visual Art. We started as a website to post personal artistic projects on, specifically poetry and short stories, and now have expanded to visual art, music, film, sound, and photography. 

Submissions

Anyone and Everyone can submit! At rewound magazine each upcoming issue will be a combination of both visual and literary media. We yearn to diversify and blend submissions in a way the allows different artwork to compliment, blend, and contrast each other. Below is a list of the type of work we accept: 

  • Art and Photography [suggested < 10 pieces]

  • Poetry [maximum 5 poems]

  • Short Fiction + Drama [maximum 3 submissions, 2500 word limit each]

  • Essays [5000 word limit]

  • Short Film and Documentary [20 minute limit]

  • Soundscapes [10 minute limit]

Submissions that do not follow the guidelines and limits will be sent back for further review in which it could be edited to meet the guidelines.

Please send all submissions within a single email to rewoundmagazine@gmail.com with your name and format in the subject, e.g. 'Max Power - Photography'.

 

For art and photography: please change the file name for each submission to 'firstnamelastname_title' e.g. 'PabloPicasso_Guernica'.

Please format text submissions in 12pt font. Feel free to use any font you desire, but bare in mind, the font and formatting of the text may be altered in the design process. It is preferable to receive submissions as either Word documents OR PDFs are acceptable as well.

For submissions of art and photography, attach all pieces to the email or link us to an online portfolio. Please avoid the use of temporary hosting sites/download links. If using an online portfolio, please guide us towards a selection of your pieces.
